Can you spot the error?

This was one of my favorite Super Bowl commercials this year.  The song will always remind me of the Brood and drama club cast parties, everyone head-bopping in unison.  :-)

But can you spot the error?  It’s brief, but there.

  1. there seems to be a missing comma in this frame:

    “wake up
    people”

implying that we should wake up some people, not that we, the people, should wake up.

    no?

  2. There are two errors, one of them excusable:

    1. “Don’t love me no more.” This should have been, “Don’t love me any more.” But the colloquialism is widely accepted (and I love the song!) so we’ll excuse this one.

    2. “Wake up people.” Oops! Where’d the comma go?

  3. Yes, didn’t think about it, and yes!

  4. OMG! THIS WAS MY FAVORITE COMMERCIAL TOO! LOVED IT!

  5. Yes, commas make a world of difference, as depicted in the above sentences. Without them ambiguity sets in.
