there seems to be a missing comma in this frame:
“wake up
people”
implying that we should wake up some people, not that we, the people, should wake up.

There are two errors, one of them excusable:
1. “Don’t love me no more.” This should have been, “Don’t love me any more.” But the colloquialism is widely accepted (and I love the song!) so we’ll excuse this one.
2. “Wake up people.” Oops! Where’d the comma go?
Yes, didn’t think about it, and yes!

Yes, commas make a world of difference, as depicted in the above sentences. Without them ambiguity sets in.
